Speech & Drama

We aim to build confidence, communication skills, fluency of speech and development of the imagination. Our drama classes are based on creative drama through the use of drama games, improvisation, voice work and mime. Students are encouraged to develop their enjoyment of acting through script work, improvisation and performance. The emphasis in Curtain Call is always on creativity, fun and enjoyment.

Students also have the option to participate in speech and drama exams in association with the Irish Board of Speech & Drama. These exams are optional but have proven very popular with most students. They provide focus in drama classes and a great sense of achievement for students who progress through the grades to diploma level.

Whether it's to build confidence, have fun or to pursue a career in acting, our drama programme is suited to students of all ages and abilities.

Dancing

All Curtain Call students participate in a weekly dance class. Students are taught a variety of dance styles through pop music and musical theatre.

Dance helps to develop posture, balance, co-ordination and rhythm. Students will learn dance routines that are age appropriate, current and fun. Our dance classes are designed to help students reach their full potential whether on a recreational or professional basis.

Singing

Group singing is taught to all classes at Curtain Call. This class encourages children to memorise lyrics to musical theatre, pop and Disney songs and to learn about breathing, pitch, tone and harmony. The song choices are varied in style throughout the term but is primarily focussed on musical theatre.

Curtain Call also offers extra singing classes, which are run in groups of six students, where students receive individual vocal coaching and are prepared for exams in singing and musical theatre with the Irish Board of Speech & Drama. In these classes, a lot of focus is placed on extending vocal range, breathing, technique and harmony. For any student who is particularly enthusiastic about singing, this is a fun class.
